It seems like a slam dunk: Chinatown, the busiest neighborhood library branch in the city, is crammed in to a tiny storefront space on South Wentworth, and locals want to expand it.
Chinatown folks rely on their library more than most. With many recent immigrants, language barriers can be an issue if they must venture outside the community. The unique resources at the Chinatown library can also help them as they try to work acclimate to American culture.
This project deserves to be fast tracked. We hope the city council and legislature can find funding for this fine project soon, to help the developer get moving.
