A 21-year-old man was shot Monday evening on the Roosevelt Green and Orange Line el platform around 7 p.m., according to police.
Police said the man suffered a single gunshot wound to the torso and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious to critical condition. He’s since been released, police said.
The shooting happened after a verbal altercation between two groups on the CTA platform, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
Two people were questioned in relation to the incident Monday evening, but no one was in custody.
The victim has a criminal record, Perez said, and police said he is involved in a gang.
CTA spokesman Brian Steele said police requested that power to the tracks near the Roosevelt station be turned off shortly after 7 p.m., halting service. Trains began running again shortly after 7:30 p.m., but did not stop at the station.
Train service on the Green and Orange lines was back to normal as of 10:40 p.m. Monday, Steele said.
The shooting is being investigated by Area 3 police detectives.
