As Garry McCarthy took to the stage Tuesday night, it was clear he didn't have many friends. The packed house of Chicagoans mostly from West Town were rowdy, and they were angry with the police superintendent's plan to shut down their local police station.

Two 14-year-olds are in police custody after allegedly committing armed robbery on a Red Line train Oct. 23 at around 12:45 in the afternoon. The incident took place near the Harrison CTA stop, by Harrison and State streets.

Less than six months into his mayoral tenure, Mayor Rahm Emanuel touched the third rail of Chicago politics, and Anne Shaw is angry. As part of his proposal to cut a financial path through an expected $635.7 million deficit in next year's city budget, Emanuel announced last week that he wants to consolidate facilities in the city's police department.

Police listed what the Chicago Journal counted to be 172 names of protesters taken into custody at the 1st District police station on the evening of Oct. 15 for staying in Grant Park after its 11 p.m. closing time.

A man was held up and apparently drugged around 3 p.m. Oct. 8 on the 200 block of South Franklin Street. The victim told police that an unknown offender put a blue steel handgun to the left side of his head and demanded money. The victim then gave the offender $20.

Two unknown offenders with a gun robbed a man at Heritage Park, 123 S. Desplaines St., in the early morning hours of Oct. 2. The victim was talking on his phone when the two offenders approached. "Give me your money," one of them said.

A man walking to the train Sept. 22 at 2:30 a.m. was the victim of an armed robbery in the 100 block of West Madison Street. The victim told police that two unknown offenders approached him from behind. The first pointed a large, black revolver at him and ordered the victim to move to the side.

A resident of the 1900 block of South Wabash Avenue was the victim of an armed car hijacking Sept. 17 at around seven in the evening. The resident told police that as he attempted to get into his garage, two men robbed him. The first placed a black and gray 9 mm gun to his temple and took the $900 he was carrying.
