Police charged Janusz Kopycinski, 30 of Chicago with reckless and disorderly conduct and also resisting arrest for his behavior outside City Hall during Mayor Richard Daley’s last day at the 121 N. LaSalle St. building.

A first-degree murder took place sometime between the evening of May 5 and morning of May 6 at Wabash Food & Liquor, 234 S. Wabash Ave. The victim, 57-year-old Edward Jernagin, was the store’s nighttime clerk. No suspects have been identified.

Two customers robbed a taxi driver, while stopping outside City Hall shortly after midnight on April 28. According to the driver, two people flagged his cab down at Jackson and LaSalle streets and requested to stop the cab at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St.

An armed robbery took place April 15 outside of 630 W. Harrison St., the address for the Chicago Greyhound bus station. The victim was approached by an unknown man who pulled out a handgun and told the victim to walk across the street to a van.

Chicago Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration announced a large scale drug bust last week. Officers discovered about 1,000 pounds of cannabis, which has a street value they say of close to $3 million.

A homeless man was found beaten on park property at the 800 block of South Michigan Avenue the night of March 25. Police said that they have made an arrest in the case, but did make available a supplementary detective report that would identify the suspect.

A cab rider, with two accomplices, attacked his taxi driver March 14. When the driver arrived at the three passenger’s destination of 240 S. State St., he requested the cab fare. The offender, sitting in the front seat, proceeded to spray mace onto the victim’s face.
