GPS bandits nabbed

Police on patrol noticed one man exiting a vehicle and another man acting as a lookout near the 100 block of E. 14th on April 2 at 1:37 a.m. Police radioed for back-up and followed the men to the 1300 block of S. Wabash. The officers stopped one of the men and asked him what was in his bag. He told police it had two GPS systems and accessories that belonged to his aunt.

Smoker leaves hotel in a huff

A desk clerk for a hotel located in the 100 block of E. Harrison said a man booked a room on March 27. As the man was checking in, the clerk told him he could not smoke in his room and asked the man to leave a $30 security deposit to enforce that rule.

Gun-toter snatches purse

A woman was walking near the 1900 block of S. Michigan March 19 at 1:46 p.m. when a man approached from behind and grabbed her purse. She tried to hold on to it, but the offender pulled on her shoulder with both hands. She heard a loud pop and felt a sharp pain and stinging in her upper right arm.

A man walked up to a warehouse in the 900 block of W. Fulton March 15 at 9:05 a.m., stole a wooden pallet from their dock and then fled. Police toured the area and found a suspect matching a description provided by the victim with a wooden pallet in his possession.

A woman reported to police that when she returned home to her residence in the 700 block of W. Jackson March 8 at 9:30 a.m. she found that someone had placed a picture of a couple having sexual intercourse on her front door. Police told her to notify them if the victim saw any more suspicious activity.

On Feb 21 at 4:05 p.m. a woman left a sliding door unlocked and her dog inside her residence, located in the 2300 block of W. 21st St., to go meet with a man about buying some puppies. The man told her he had to go get the puppies and then he’d return.

Burglar caught under truck

A series of burglaries have occurred at a parking garage located in the 600 block of S. Clark over the last few weeks, so police were assigned to patrol the garage Feb. 20. Around 11 a.m., officers noticed a blue and silver SUV with no license plates entering the garage.

A man returned to his home in the 1100 block of W. Cullerton Feb. 8 at 3:20 p.m. and discovered that someone had forcibly entered it through a window and removed an air compressor and a saw valued at $700.
