An unknown man stuck up the 5 N. Wells St. Arby’s on Nov. 23 at about 8 p.m.
The offender walked into the Arby’s wearing a ski mask and handed the cashier a handwritten note that read, “Give me the money; Don’t try to protect what isn’t yours. I don’t want to want hurt you.” The offender then displayed a chrome revolver from his coat without totally removing it and retrieved the note.
The clerk opened the register and gave $150. The offender said, “I want what’s in the safe” and the clerk responded, “I don’t know the combination.” The offender then fled out of the Arby’s, south on Wells.
The Arby’s has security cameras, but they didn’t record anything. The only other worker in Arby’s at the time was working in the back and didn’t know of the robbery until it was over.
Threats at Chinese restaurant
An employee at Mei Kitchen, 1108 S. Wabash Ave., said that on Nov. 26, at 10:15 p.m., three offenders entered the restaurant and said they had a gun. The first offender told the victim that his parents should be careful. The offender then reached inside of his black coat, giving the victim the impression that he had a gun.
The offender also threatened to seek out the victim’s friends and then fled the premise in a black SUV. Police have identified the offender, as he has subsequently sent numerous threatening voicemails.
Chased with tire iron
Three women with a tire iron ran after a man on the 200 block of North State Street Nov 25 at 5:30 in the morning.
The man was en route to work when someone asked him for money and the time of day. The victim responded that he didn’t have any money and didn’t know what time it was. Then, a four-door vehicle pulled up with four passengers and three women to verbally harass the victim (the fourth was asleep).
One woman then took a tire iron from the trunk of the vehicle and then all the offenders chased the victim onto a CTA bus. While on the bus, one of the offenders tried to fight the victim before the harassment was stopped.
Gun pointed at driver
A man driving down the 100 block of North Wells Street on Nov. 23 at about 3:45 in the afternoon had a gun pointed at him by an unknown offender. The victim was first cut off by the offender and then pulled up next to the offender’s car. The offender pointed a black handgun through the driver side window and then fled onto Illinois Avenue.
Cornered, robbed in alley
An unknown male and unknown female offender robbed a woman walking eastbound on Washington Street toward State Street on Nov. 10 after forcing her into an alley. Once the woman was in the alley, the offenders removed the gold ring from her finger, took $50 from her wallet and fled northbound.
The victim thought an object put to her back was a gun, but she did not observe the offender with a weapon.
This summary contains information taken from the crime reports and arrest records of the 1st District of the Chicago Police Department. Anyone named has only been charged with a crime. The cases have not yet been adjudicated
