Two unknown offenders with a gun robbed a man at Heritage Park, 123 S. Desplaines St., in the early morning hours of Oct. 2. The victim was talking on his phone when the two offenders approached. “Give me your money,” one of them said. The surprised victim asked the offender to repeat what he said.

“Give me your money,” the offender responded.

“Are you kidding me?” the victim said.

The offender then pointed a black steel .44 magnum toward the victim’s chest. “Does it look like I’m kidding?” he asked.

The second offender then snatched the victim’s iPhone out of his left pocket and placed it into his back pocket. The victim repeatedly insisted that he had no money but was ordered by the offender to get on the ground. “This will be all over if you give us your money,” the offender told him.

The victim eventually produced his wallet, but it didn’t have any money. So the offenders ordered the victim to retrieve money from an ATM. The victim walked southbound on Desplaines to the 7-Eleven at 627 W. Jackson Blvd. with the offenders, and their gun, trailing him. The victim took $100 from the ATM and handed the money over to the offenders, who started walking off. The victim then asked for his iPhone, and the offenders began to run.

The offenders were last seen going into the Blue Line subway at Clinton and Congress streets.

Bank robbery

A man claiming to have both a gun and a bomb robbed Chicago Community Bank, 52 E. Lake St., on the morning of Sept. 30.

The bank teller told police that the robber approached her at the teller window and handed a note that read, “I have a gun — I have a bomb in the bag.” The offender then said, “Hurry up — my brother is across the street.”

The teller proceeded to open up the cash drawer and gave the offender an unknown amount of cash. The offender then left the bank, leaving the note behind, and fled the scene eastbound on foot. An evidence technician will process the note and a copy of the bank security video surveillance will be turned over to the FBI.

Cab driver assaulted

Three teenagers are in police custody after allegedly spraying a cab driver in the South Loop with dog repellent and stealing $250 on the evening of Sept. 30.

The cab driver said that he picked up the offenders at 3500 N. Halsted St. and transported them to 800 block of South Plymouth Court. Upon stopping at the location, two offenders sprayed the victim with dog repellent and the third offender took the money from the victim’s bag.

All three offenders then ran away and police later saw them enter onto a CTA bus stop on the 1800 block of South State Street. The offenders were taken off the bus and positively identified by the victim. They were taken into police custody and transported to the first district for processing.

Mugged for her jewelry

A woman was threatened and robbed of thousands of dollars in jewelry at the corner of Adams and Desplaines streets on the morning of Sept. 30. The woman was walking eastbound when two unknown offenders approached her and demanded that she give them her jewelry. One offender grabbed her arm and placed an unknown object to her side — the victim said that she feared he had a weapon. The victim said that she was unable to give a physical description since the offenders stood behind and warned her not to turn around.

The offenders fled in an unknown direction. They swiped a white metal bracelet, white metal ring, and white metal necklace with a combined estimated value of $6,400.

This summary contains information taken from the crime reports and arrest records of the 1st District of the Chicago Police Department. Anyone named has only been charged with a crime. The cases have not yet been adjudicated.

Everyone on here is so concerned about the time of day it happened. What we really should be concerned about is getting concelaed to carry legislation passed so we can put these thugs where they belong. Stop counting on high property values, group walkin, police etc to protect u. Contact your state ligislature immediately letting them know u need it. Its coming up for another vote soon.

Yes. Please add the time of day these crimes occurred. It's sloppy reporting.

Can we have the times of these crimes. In the early morning, does that mean 3 or 6? It is necessary to knowing what we are dealing with here. I no longer carry my purse whenever possible. Just a twenty to give whomever may decide to stick me up.
