Restaurant patron gets unruly

A man was ejected from a restaurant located on the 100 block of S. State August 1 at 2:30 a.m. While the man was outside, he threw a bottle at a restaurant employee, hitting her front upper teeth. The man then got in a fight with another man who came to the woman’s rescue. The offender dislocated the other man’s shoulder and then fled south on State. Police searched the area, but did not locate the offender. Both victims were treated at the hospital and released.
Man beaten with wrench
A man lying against a building on the 400 block of S. Clark July 31 at 9:50 p.m. was starting to fall asleep when a man approached, went through his pants pockets and removed $20. The victim confronted the offender, and the offender pulled out a wrench from his bag and struck the victim on the head a few times. The victim ran to a nearby federal building for help. Police arrived and found the victim being treated on the scene by paramedics. Blood poured from his head. A witness informed police the offender was standing across the street. Police approached the offender and found him pacing, wearing a shirt speckled with blood and holding a 12” long wrench at his side. Police arrested the man and transported him to the 1st District police station for processing.
Maybe the janitor did it?
A woman returned to her parked car in a residential parking lot located on the 800 block of S. Park Terrace August 1 at 8:20 p.m. and found that someone had scratched the vehicle and taken a hubcap. The woman told police she believes a janitor for an adjacent building with whom she had a previous altercation caused the damage.
iPod stolen from parked car
A man parked his car on the 600 block of W. 16th July 29 at 9:20 p.m. When he returned a few hours later, he discovered someone had smashed the passenger door of his vehicle and taken his iPod from the car.
Drinking and threatening
An police officer noticed a man drinking malt liquor on a sidewalk near the 100 block of W. Van Buren July 28 at 11:30 a.m. The officer arrested the man for public intoxication and transported him to the 1st District police station. When he was inside the lock-up he became very angry and told the officer, “I got something to say to you. The next time you ride up on me, I’m going to …” The officer interrupted the man and said, “Watch what you say.” The offender continued saying, “Just ride up on me like that again. The next time you ride up on me like that again. Just do it again.” The man was charged with aggravated assault.
Apartment robbery
A woman returned from work to her home on the 100 block of E. 8th July 27 at 3:15 a.m. and found more than $700 of electronics and her purse missing. The windows and doors on her house were secured.
Man hits woman
A man and a woman got in a verbal disagreement on the 2100 block of S. Michigan July 25 at 1 p.m. The man then struck the woman in the face multiple times with his fist, causing minor bruising and swelling. Police arrived, arrested the man and charged him with battery. The victim refused medical treatment.
Air conditioner lifted
A woman returned to her apartment on the 1700 block of W. Cermak July 31 at 3:40 p.m. and discovered her air conditioner had been removed from the window. When she entered the apartment she also found $500 missing.
Wallet stolen from parked car
A woman parked her car on the 700 block of S. Western July 31 at 1:30 p.m. When she returned to her car at midnight the next day, she found the doors of the car, which she had locked, unlocked. The robber took her wallet.
iPod taken from parked car
A man parked his 2004 Jeep Wrangler on the 1100 block of W. 16th July 31 at 3 p.m. When he returned, he found one of the back windows on his soft top was unzipped and a DVD player, GPS, iPod, and a pair of headphones were missing.
