A 29-year-old man was shot downtown during rush hour on Monday, in what police said was a targeted attack.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Todd Brown was walking across the State Street bridge over the Chicago River when he was shot in the back of the head at close range.

Brown survived the shooting, however, and was being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Several media outlets reported that the shooting was not random, but instead was a targeted attack. However, Brown’s mother Mildred Gooden told the Tribune said her son didn’t know the identity of the gunman.

Police were still searching for the gunman as of Wednesday afternoon.
