In the wake of several muggings that have taken place recently in the South Loop and garnered attention on social media networks like Twitter and EveryBlock, the Chicago Police have issued a community alert describing the offenders and their modus operandi.
In the robberies, which police said have occurred between Roosevelt Road and 18th Street from Prairie Avenue to Michigan Avenue, the offenders exit a car, approach the victims from behind, knock them to the ground and take their valuables.
Police describe the group of offenders as being made up of three to five people.
Anyone who witnesses a crime or has any information on the attacks should call the Chicago police department at 911, or contact the Area 3 Robbery/Burglary/Theft Crimes Unit at 312-744-8263.
