In the wake of several muggings that have taken place recently in the South Loop and garnered attention on social media networks like Twitter and EveryBlock, the Chicago Police have issued a community alert describing the offenders and their modus operandi.

The West Loop Target store is set to break ground this month at the corner of Jackson Boulevard and Aberdeen Street, according to Ald. Bob Fioretti. The store is scheduled to open in a year, with its grand opening in July 2012, Fioretti said during a town hall meeting held at the Merit School of Music in the West Loop.

The annual festival won't charge admission, as was controversially proposed earlier this year as the city pondered outsourcing them to a private contractor - some of whom had proposed charging people to get in.
