Ald. Bob Fioretti (2nd) is planning to hold community meetings on two controversial West Loop projects next Wednesday, Nov. 9.

From 6 to 7 p.m., Old St. Pat’s will discuss the latest plans for the office building it’s planning at Adams and Des Plaines streets, and from 7 to 8 p.m. the team behind the Toyoko Inn will discuss its plans to build a hotel at 320 S. Clinton St.

Toyoko was originally supposed to go before the Chicago Plan Commission earlier this month, but Fioretti deferred the presentation so he could have another community meeting on the project.

One of the holdups for Toyoko was a deal with Metra’s headquarters next door. The commuter rail agency had worried that there wouldn’t be enough space to do maintenance on their own building.

But according to Metra spokesman Michael Gillis, they’ve negotiated a deal with Toyoko that would allow them enough access to their building.

Toyoko’s attorney, Joseph Gattuso, did not return calls from Chicago Journal seeking comment, but previously expressed optimism that the group had worked out the kinks with neighbors.
