Last week’s town hall meeting hosted online by Ald. Bob Fioretti (2nd) was the first in a series that are expected to remain accessible to anyone wanting to listen to ward questions or hear Alderman’s answers.
Pasquale Neri, Fioretti’s assistant, described their attempt at on line democracy as a “success” with just a touch of technical difficulties, which came during the question and answer portion of the meeting.
The move to online public civil discourse is not one to replace Fioretti’s annual meetings in the neighborhoods of the second ward, Pasquale said. Online efforts come from Fioretti’s desire to do hold more meetings for those who work a different shift and keep access to the wards first responder, Pasquale said.
As long as Fioretti is in office all the recorded the meetings will remain up for people to view, Pasquale said. Links to the first town hall meeting can be found at the 2nd Ward website.
