Lollapalooza hordes devastate Grant Park
08/10/2011 10:00 PM
The combination of torrential rain and 90,000 fans in open fields didn’t end well for Grant Park over the weekend, ruining much of the park’s grass and landscaping.
According to a Chicago Sun-Times report, it could cost several hundred thousand dollars to repair the park after last weekend’s Lollapalooza.
However, the Chicago Park District isn’t on the hook to repair the park. As part of its deal to rent out Grant Park, the festival’s promoters — Austin-based C3 Presents LLC — are required to pay for any and all repairs in Lollapalooza’s wake.
The repairs to the city’s so-called front yard could take several weeks, according to the Sun-Times story.

Our park is turned over to a private business and we're charged admission to enter it. Then they ruin the place in the bargain. It's amazing people aren't outraged by this nonsense.
