The new owners of South Loop development Roosevelt Collection have decided to demolish a big chunk of the vacant retail space in the complex, according to a new report.
The partnership between McCaffery Interests Inc. and another group that includes former NBA star Magic Johnson bought the complex at a steep discount earlier this year. A report from Crain’s Chicago Business said the group is planning to raze a vacant block of retail buildings that sits in the middle of the U-shaped complex.
They’ll replace it with a park and green space, according to the Crain’s story.
Currently, the only tenant in the retail space at Roosevelt Collection is the Kerasotes Showplace Icon movie theater.
