Issues that loom large on the Near West and Near South sides will be discussed — debated? screamed about? — in upcoming meetings over the next two weeks:

  • At 7 p.m. May 11, West Loop Community Organization and Ald. Walter Burnett (27th) are sponsoring a meeting about the document May 11 at 7 p.m. at Merit School of Music, 11 S. Peoria;
  • At 6 p.m. May 14, Ald. Robert Fioretti’s office is sponsoring a meeting about the Rockwell Gardens redevelopment at the James Jordan Boys and Girls Club, 2102 W. Maypole;
  • At 6:30 p.m. May 18, the Jones College Prep local school council will host another meeting about the Jones expansion plan at the school, 606 S. State;
  • At 7 p.m. May 20, the South Loop School local school council is holding a meeting about capacity issues at SLS. The meeting does down at the school, 1212 S. Plymouth.
