As 2nd Ward Alderman Robert Fioretti prepares a likely run for mayor, he is trying to establish his bona fides as an advocate for renters pushed out of affordable housing. Fioretti plans at the monthly City Council meeting Wednesday to breathe some life into the Sweet Home Chicago ordinance, which sets aside tax increment finance (TIF) dollars toward affordable housing.

Second Ward Alderman Robert Fioretti is expected run for mayor, and that raises the question of who would replace him on City Council. So far no one has officially filed with the city to run for 2nd Ward alderman, but at least five 2nd Ward residents say they will enter what looks to be a wide-open race.

A man returned to his apartment in the 1500 block of West 17th Street at 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 1 and noticed his front door was broken. The man noticed his Epson printer and an XBox game system were missing. Some witnesses told him that a boy living across the hall stole the items.

A hundred grand's worth of lights for Dearborn Park 2

It’s going to cost the city about $100,000 but some of the residents of Dearborn Park 2 — from Plymouth to Federal and Roosevelt to 14th — are going to live better and brighter in a few weeks, according to Alderman Bob Fioretti. He said he is working hard to brighten the night lives of the residents. “It’s just too dark there,” he said.
