Dennis Beninato is out as president of the Greater South Loop Association. The litigator will be devoting the next couple of weeks to gathering enough signatures to get on the ballot and challenge Cook County Commissioner Bobby Steele in the second district.

Beninato said he’ll be working with friends and family members to get the signatures required prior to the Nov. 2 filing deadline. He said he’s uniquely qualified for the position given that his legal practice — specializing in property tax appeals — has taken him before the Board of Review, to county circuit court and other public bodies whose budgets depend on the Cook County board.

“I think the county board is woefully lacking in leadership,” he said.

Dennis Beninato has withdrawn as a candidate for 2nd district county commissioner and will not appear on the ballot. As an alternative to the current unelected incumbent, please consider voting for Desiree Grode, who was recently endorsed by the Chicago Tribune.
