Loop bank robbed at gunpoint

Police said Citibank at 222 W. Adams St. was robbed by a man who appeared to have a gun at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The man gave a note to a teller at the bank demanding “all your money’’ and then lifted his jacket to show what appeared to be a silver shiny object tucked into his waistband.
The man demanded $100 and $50 bills and took an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing through the front door onto Adams Street.
Off-duty cop beaten
A 6-foot-3, 250-pound, 46-year-old Cook County Sheriff’s police officer said he was beaten while tailgating at the Notre Dame-Miami college football game at Soldier Field on Saturday, Oct. 6.
The man said he was tailgating with his son and some friends at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 6 when another group of men began harassing them. He told police they started throwing beer, and when he told them to knock it off one of the men struck him in the face and, when he fell to his knees, he was kicked in the face.
The six suspects, all said to be in their 20s, fled the scene. A roving medical team in a private ambulance assigned to the game picked up the victim and transported him to Northwestern Hospital.
Armed robbery in parking lot
A Union Station employee was robbed Monday, Oct. 15, as he emptied pay stations at a parking lot in the 300 block of South Canal Street. The man said he was making his rounds collecting money from the pay stations at 10:40 a.m. when someone approached him from behind and displayed a gun.
Police said the man took $5,460 and fled southbound.
Man charged with sexual abuse
A 56-year-old Orland Park man was charged with criminal sexual abuse for allegedly molesting a female security guard on Monday, Oct. 15, at a building at 30 W. Monroe St.
The guard told police she encountered the man in a basement hallway of the building at 6:30 a.m. Oct. 15 and he said, “I guess I can talk to you now,’’ before grabbing her breasts and crotch.
The woman told police that the man had been ordered not to have any contact with her after he had shown her a video depicting him having sex with an unknown woman. She said the incident had happened six to eight months ago and she had reported the incident to management but not police.
Charged was Chester Krygowski of the 9200 block of West 137th Street.
iPhone stolen on Blue Line train
A 40-year-old Niles man had his iPhone stolen on Sunday, Oct. 14 as he rode the Blue Line at 9:40 p.m. at Dearborn Avenue.
The victim told police that one man grabbed his phone and tossed it to a second man while two other men blocked his way, pushed him back and attempted to knock him down.
The men then fled with several others, who police said were there with the suspects but did not participate in the robbery.
Suspected pickpocket nabbed
A 15-year-old boy was charged with theft on Monday, Oct. 15 after a 54-year-old CTA employee helped capture him after he picked a woman’s pocket on the Orange Line platform at 22 E. Roosevelt Road.
The victim, a 20-year-old Chicago woman, told police the boy reached into her pocket and took her cellphone before fleeing down the stairs and into the Red Line subway station, where he was apprehended. The CTA employee recovered the victim’s cellphone and held the boy for police.
