Two women were arguing on the 400 block of S. Dearborn August 24 at 1:30 p.m. One of the women called the other woman a b-tch. The other woman grabbed her and started attacking her. Police arrived and pulled the women apart and discovered that they are mother and daughter. No charges were filed.

Man attacks with a rock

A man was walking down the street on the 200 block of N. State August 24 at 8:17 p.m. as another man approached and threw a rock at his face causing a 3” wide laceration. The offender fled. Police arrived and then toured the neighborhood looking for the offender. After a brief foot chase, they apprehended the offender who told police the victim threatened to throw a rock at him first. The victim needed five stitches to close the wound. The offender was arrested and charged with battery.

The burglars didn’t take anything

A man left work and returned to his residence located on the 700 block of S. Clark August 26 at 11 a.m. and found his front door open. He searched the house and found nothing missing. He told police he had locked the door and would let them know if he eventually found anything missing.

Parking scofflaw tries to run over traffic aide

A city traffic aide was attempting to clear traffic near the 200 block of W. Jackson on August 27 at 5:05 p.m. The aide noticed a van parked in the northbound lane with a driver talking on his cell phone. The van was obstructing traffic, so the aide approached the vehicle and asked the driver to move his vehicle. The aide repeated the request multiple times over a 10 minute period, but the driver refused to comply. The aide then wrote the man a ticket and attempted to place it on the van, but the driver rolled down his window and spat at the aide. As the aide continued to direct traffic near the van, the driver put the van in reverse and accelerated toward her. The aide jumped out of the way and told the driver, “You almost hit me.” The driver said, “I was trying to hit you b-tch.” The offender told the aide he would be back and then fled. Police toured the area, but did not locate the offender.

Good Samaritan robbed

A man was aggressively panhandling on the 100 block of S. Clinton August 26 at 11 p.m. One of the people the panhandler approached pulled out his wallet to give the man some money. The panhandler took the man’s wallet and pushed him to the ground. As the victim stood up, the offender put his hand in his pocket to imply he had a gun and said, “You don’t want to mess with me.” The offender then took the victim’s cell phone, a small bag of tools, his black hoodie and fled.

Chevy stolen

A woman parked her 1994 Chevy Caprice on the 100 block of S. Wood August 27 at 6:10 p.m. When she returned to her car a few hours later, it was gone. Police verified that the car had not been towed.

Bike theft in the South Loop

A woman walked in to a common area of her apartment building’s garage located on the 1600 block of S. Indiana to retrieve her bike and found it was missing. She reported it as stolen to police.

Man robbed of $20

A man was walking near the 2100 block of S. State August 26 at 7:25 p.m. when another man approached him and grabbed $20 from his pocket. The offender fled south. The victim waited four hours to report the incident and police had no leads.

Pickpocket arrested

A woman was sitting inside a restaurant on the 300 block of N. Michigan August 25 at 11:55 p.m. when she noticed a woman attempting to open her purse and take her wallet. The victim asked the offender what she was doing and she fled. Police apprehended the offender outside the door of the restaurant and asked her what she was doing. The offender told police she was going to get a banana at the restaurant. Police took her in to custody and a search revealed she was carrying two baggies containing a white powder suspected as heroin. Police arrested the woman and took her to the police station for processing.
