On the day known in some pro-marijuana circles as the “high holiday,” Chicago police officers arrested a Near West Side man April 20, on two counts of marijuana possession, according to a department statement.
Acting on a tip, police said they observed Jeremy Peterson, 31, of the 2400 block of W. Madison, leave a garage in the 1300 block of W. Ohio with a box and get into a vehicle.
Peterson drove to the 500 block of W. Ogden, where officers stopped and interviewed him, obtaining consent to search the garage, the statement says. Inside the garage, officers found 73 packages of marijuana with an estimated street value of almost $200,000.
A search of Peterson’s home produced another pound of marijuana, $6,250 cash and drug paraphernalia.
Peterson also faces one charge of manufacturing and delivery of the drug.
