After listening to a lecture Thursday night at Second Presbyterian Church on South Michigan Avenue about architect Howard Van Doren Shaw. And thinking about the newly restored parlor at the famous Glessner House last week while leading a tour there as a docent, my mind drifted to Saturday's South Loop Neighbors Loft Walk. It comes but once a year and it gives us all a chance to examine the inside of some of the most beautiful and historic residences in our neighborhood--ones that aren't open to the public, as the church and Glessner are.

Several South Loop residents are opening their doors and welcoming those interested in seeing their homes. So take advantage of the chance while you can. It runs from 11 to 4 and tickets can be purchased at Dearborn Station on Polk starting at 10:30. You can walk the route or take a trolley.

Here's a report from last year.

I'm very excited about seeing the lofts that are in "motor row" area on Michigan Ave. in the 18 to 22nd blocks. The trolley is always fun to ride and wave at people. See you Saturday!!
