I got great news this morning when my friend and fellow South Loop blogger Steve Reginald sent word that he tried out a new barbecue place in the neighborhood and then blogged about it. Funny, because I'd just been to Smoque at Pulaski and Irving yesterday morning, and Smoke Daddy last weekend on the border between the east ends of Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village. I'm so used to forays like that I hadn't realized that we were missing good BBQ here in the South Loop.

In any case, that problem is solved, according to Steve. We now have Ole' Hardwood--at 1315 S. Wabash. They call themselves "The Gastro-Smokehouse." Steve seemed to love it. It's in a spot that was once a tapas place and then a Caribbean place. He had the St. Louis Cut ribs and grilled bananas for dessert. In any case, it's only a matter of time before I amble over to test the smoke and the sauce.
