For Rent
Alain's ain't coming back

A few weeks ago, the talk of the neighborhood was the eviction notice slapped on the window at the new restaurant with the great potential at 14th and Michigan: Alain's. I liked the place, had spent a wonderful evening there--and had plans to go back with some girlfriends.
But that wasn't meant to be.
Huge "For Rent" signs are plastered on the windows now. A sad sight, to be sure. There's still speculation as to what caused the restaurant's demise, whether it was a failure to pay the rent, the contractors who did the build-out--or whatever.
What isn't talked about much in the blogosphere, however, is a lawsuit that was brought against Alain's--and maybe that's what put them under. The prospect of the owners, chef Alain Njike and Chicago Bear Israel Idonije fighting employees, a bartender and a server--who claim not only were they not paid their wages, but also denied tips they earned which were left on customers' credit cards--may have been too much.
In any case, I'm sorry to see Alain's go. And I sure hope some industrious new (or established elsewhere) restauranteur can take over and make a go in the very nice corner spot.

There are certainly many details like that to take into consideration. That's an incredible point to bring up. I provide the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly you can find questions like the 1 you bring up exactly where probably the most fundamental factor will be working in honest beneficial faith. I don?t know if most desirable practices have emerged about things like that, but I'm sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
