Graffiti Fairy

Alderman Fioretti is more reliable than a tooth fairy and faster, too

See the picture at right of the electrical box on a pole at 9th and State? Less than a few seconds before this picture was taken it was covered in scribbly, ugly and irritating graffiti. I was waiting to cross the street there this afternoon and Alderman Fioretti happened to sneak up with a little spray can (kind of like a can of WD-40) and he sprayed away for about three seconds. The white mess disappeared.

"Spray it again so I can get a picture!" I cajoled. But the alderman was too shy and modest to have his photo taken in action. So all I could get was the after. Wish I could have gotten the before.

"No one believes I go around doing this," Fioretti said.

Well, he does. I can attest to that. And he's pretty good.

I've seen Fioretti buy the spray cans at the Ace store in South Loop. Good for him. The graffiti is getting out of hand in Chicago. Seems like a turn back to the 70's and 80's.
