Trouble in the Jewel parking lot again

As readers of this blog know, I've had my issues with the Jewel parking lot at Roosevelt, between State and Wabash. In a word, the way the cars meander in and out and around and through; the way the walkways meander in and out and around and through; and the way the people meander in and out and around and through, it's a death trap. Sometimes, I feel that if given a choice between starving or getting crashed into by a car or a cart on my way into Jewel, I might prefer the former.
In any case, the parking lot is getting blamed for another woe. According to Channel 2 news, Jerry Orloff, who is handicapped, has filed suit against Jewel and the security company that monitors the store and the parking lot because he became so upset when non-handicapped persons were allowed to park in the handicapped spaces in the parking lot, he had a heart attack. He is asking for at least $50,000 plus costs in Cook County Circuit Court, according to the station.
Ordinarily, I would think this was just one of those suits.... But I have been traipsing through that lot for 10 years now, and although I have never had an issue with handicapped parking, my heart--when I am traipsing--has skipped many a beat and performed many a palpitation, just from being in the lot. Good luck, Jerry. I hope, if nothing else, you make Jewel see the light--and establish some safety and order and rule enforcement--in that neighborhood death trap.
