I inadvertently (or perhaps subconsciously) ended up at our new South Loop sports bar, Jimmy Green's on South State on LeBron night. LeBron news was coming from many of the scores of flat screen TVs that line just about every inch of the walls in the sleek new place, including a private one in every booth. Whether you can adjust to the sports channel/game of your choice in the booth, I don't know. But if not, all you have to do is cock your head up or to one side or the other and you are bound to see the sports talking head or the game of your choice. They're all on in there.

In any case, they have a well-rounded menu which the reviewers have sized up nicely; good bar food like wings and burgers and good other stuff for the rest of us--everything from grilled salmon to some good pastas. But one dish I tried Thursday really was unique: a grilled Caesar salad. Literally grilled.

What it is is a half "head" of romaine, brushed with olive oil and put on the grill till the edges are singed. Then there is a delicate slathering of good Caesar dressing and the placement of some excellent roasted red peppers on top, along with two large croutons and anchovies. Delish! And very creative.
