After a long week at the office, there's nothing better than sitting back and treating yourself to some Beauty TLC. The other night, I headed to Aniko Spa for a pre-vacation mani/pedi. The perk? A hearty glass of wine to sip.

Perhaps men can't fully understand this, but there is something a little magical about sitting back, reading through trashy magazines, sipping wine and getting your precious feet and toes mended. Walking in heels and shuffling around in sandals isn't an easy task. We gals get our share of calluses, dry heels, chipped toes and scratches. There is also a silent rule among the ladies that walking around the city in a cute outfit and even cuter shoes isn't so cute when your nail polish is coming off.

You may wonder, 'So a simple glass of wine made you happy. Really'? Yes. Customer service with a smile and an understanding of what I may be going through on a given day speaks volumes to my dollar. I appreciate a business owner that makes that little extra effort to connect with me. In this case, it was a glass of wine, but the overall service was top notch, too.

I encourage all South and West Loop businesses to find their own mix of customer service + extra perk. Perhaps it's signing up for the small business Foursquare service, awarding visitors a little extra for checking in to their business. Whatever the idea, a little TLC does indeed go a long way.

I totally 100% agree... Customer Service is the number one reason why I usually don't Shop the market for businesses that I use. I know that what they bring from their years of experience and how they take care of me meets what I figure to be "Great Customer Service"! Funny that I found your article while Googling' how wine make me happy! Thanks for the article! I think I'll go paint my toes now! hahaha
