Police shoot burglary suspect on Near West Side

Police officers shot a man near Malcolm X College and the Illinois Medical District Wednesday evening, at 440 S. Damen. The man, a suspect in a downtown theft case, allegedly drove his car toward the officers, who then fired their guns. Read more...
Zoning change for dorm proposal deferred today

Members of the city council's Committee on Zoning deferred an application this morning to change the zoning underlying a parking lot at Van Buren and Wabash. A partnership of developers wants the change to eventually construct a 37-story, 1,249-bed student dorm. Read more...
