Two quick development notes:
- The Illinois Medical District Commission has scheduled a special meeting for 1:00-3:00 p.m. this afternoon for to talk about a Costco store on the Near West Side and vote on a ground lease with the store. Here's the legalese in the public meeting notice: "The purpose of the said meeting is for discussion and action upon the proposed leasing to Costco of a site bounded by Ashland Avenue, Hastings Street, 15th Street and the CTA elevated line located just west of Paulina Street, Chicago, Illinois and the potential acquisition of property located within the District Development Area of the Illinois Medical District." The meeting will be held in the conference room of the building at 600 S. Hoyne.
- Tomorrow, the new Kerasotes Theater is scheduled to open in the Roosevelt Collection, the new development north of Roosevelt and west of Clark. Called the Showplace Icon, the theater will feature a "Lobby Lounge" designed by restaurateur Jerry Kleiner. The description of the lounge, in a press release put out by Kerasotes: "Custom designed furniture, bar, and lighting create a warm, lavish but edgy atmosphere that captures the glamour of Hollywood where guests will enjoy amazing views of the Chicago skyline. Guests 21 years and older may enjoy cocktails, wine, or beer with savory food made from fresh ingredients in the lounge or VIP Premium seating areas."
