Ald. Robert Fioretti, a freshman alderman, might jump into the 7th District race.

The 7th Congressional District includes the Loop and the neighborhoods surround it; Chicago's West Side; and many suburban communities, including Oak Park, Forest Park and Maywood.

Second Ward Ald. Robert Fioretti confirmed today petitions are going around should he take a run at the 7th District congressional seat.
"They are being passed," Fioretti said in a brief interview today, Oct. 21. "I don't know if I'm going to pursue it."
Chicago Journal was tipped off to the effort by a commenter on its Web site. Responding to a blog entry posted by Journal blogger Bonnie McGrath, Claudeah from United Center wrote, "FYI--I just saw a petition to collect signatures for Fioretti to run in the Congressional race for Danny Davis' seat."
Fioretti previously demurred when asked about running for the seat.
"Lots of people the last few days have asked me about this," he told Chicago Journal last month. "I’m in no mood to make any decision on anything. I love being alderman of the 2nd Ward. I’m thinking about gearing up my own re-election campaign."
The 7th District incumbent, Congressman Danny Davis, is reportedly gathering petitions for both a run for Cook County board president and reelection in the 7th.
Should Davis opt for Washington once again, he's widely considered a shoo-in for reelection.
Davis recently announced he will file petitions for the board presidency race on Oct. 26.
Other candidates for the 7th District, reports Roll Call, include Darlena Williams-Burnett, the Deputy Cook County Recorder of Deeds (and wife of 27th Ward Ald. Walter Burnett); 24th Ward Ald. Sharon Dixon; and real estate agent Jim Ascot.

I hope he doesn't run for Congress. I'd rather he ran for Mayor against Daley.
