New cell towers in South Loop, West Loop
09/16/2011 5:21 PM
iPhone owners, rejoice: AT&T says they’ve installed new cell towers in the South Loop that should improve cell service.
According to AT&T spokeswoman Mollie West, the company has installed new towers that should improve service near the 900 block of South Canal Street, near 26th Street and Lake Shore Drive, and near 18th Street and Indiana Avenue.
When asked, West said the company couldn’t disclose the towers’ exact location for security reasons.

"company couldn’t disclose the towers’ exact location for security reasons." COULDN'T? Baloney. They can, and we need to stop giving corporations and the government a pass when they make bogus claims of "security." There are a whole set of reasons that cell companies don't disclose exact tower locations, and "security" is pretty low on that list. Not feeding psychosomatic complaints, yes! Muting complaints from customers who should get better reception, yes! Preventing sabotage? hardly.
