Mary Bartelme Park, the new green space at Adams and Sangamon streets in the West Loop, is set to dedicate a marker to its namesake on Tuesday.
Ald. Bob Fioretti (2nd), the Chicago Park District, the Bartelme Park Advisory Council and the West Loop Community organization will host the event at the Merit School of Music, which sits across the street at 38 S. Peoria St., on Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.
Bartelme herself was the first woman elected as a judge of the Cook County Court. She served from 1923 until 1933.
The event will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the park’s opening and will trumpet Bartelme’s civic contributions.
