Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen can’t claim to be a South Sider any more — at least on his driver’s license.

According to Chicago Tribune reporter Bob Goldsborough, Guillen just sold his West Loop town home in the Carmichael Place community, which sat just south of Madison Street on the 1000 block of Monroe.

Guillen had bought the three-bedroom West Loop home for $570,000 in 2003 and sold it this year for $610,000, Goldsborough said.

Real estate agent Emily Santos of @Properties, who represented the Sox manager, told Goldsborough that Guillen “simply wanted a bigger house.”

The Sox skipper’s new home is just that. A recent listing for the Bucktown home showed it was roughly twice as big as Guillen’s West Loop town house at 6,163 square feet. Goldsborough reported Guillen bought the home for $1.95 million.

Santos did not immediately return calls Monday afternoon seeking confirmation and comment.

Thanks for your comment, Bill. I'm fully aware that the West Loop is not really "the South Side." I was just playing with words a little bit since the home sat just south of Madison Street, the north/south dividing line of the city. A bit of a stretch, to be sure, but I thought it was amusing.

Ozzie wasn't a South Sider at his old address. He did and still does live on the West Side whether it is the Near West Side ("West Loop") or Logan Square ("Bucktown").
