Chicago police have arrested three people for a string of muggings that happened in the South Loop earlier this month.

In a press release sent out Friday, the police announced their arrest of two men and a woman for “several incidents” that occurred between July 7 and July 14. In those robberies, the suspects approached the victims from behind and took property from them, sometimes knocking them to the ground in the process. The offender would then get into a car and drive away.

Desmond D. Bell, 19, of the 4200 block of South Princeton Avenue, was charged with five counts of robbery, as was Angela A. Sewell, 21, of the 400 block of East 41st Street. A third man, Larry Middleton, 18, of the 6500 block of South Claremont Avenue, was charged with three counts of robbery.

Police said they identified the suspects’ car with information received from victims and witnesses. Area 3 detectives then used that information to track down the alleged perpetrators.

Bell, Sewell and Middleton are all scheduled to appear in court at 2452 W. Belmont Ave. on July 21.
