Cardiss Collins was a Chicago congresswoman. The post office branch named after her is the last 24-hour facility in the country. That's ending June 6.

Night owls who like checking their PO boxes in the wee hours might be disappointed to learn that the United States Postal Service's Cardiss Collins facility, 433 W. Harrision, will end its 24-hour operation June 6. The South Loop postal branch is the last in the country to offer a staffed counter all hours of the day and night.
Mark Reynolds, a postal spokesman, said more and more people are purchasing USPS services over the internet, resulting in a drop in foot traffic at Cardiss Collins. March 2009 saw 40 percent fewer customers than March 2008 at the facility, Reynolds said.
The building's lobby will remain open 24 hours a day for people who want to use automatic mailing machines (a credit or debit card is required).
The new hours at Cardiss Collins will be 7:30 a.m. until midnight seven days a week.

That's really too bad. What do you do now when you have a 2am book-shipping emergency in the South Loop? Damn internet.
