Early Saturday afternoon in downtown Chicago found the loop mostly empty of people – especially protestors.
Police were maintaining a visible presence around the financial district, the Federal Building and the Chicago River. The river was still open to boaters but Coast Guard boats, each armed with a machine gun, could be seen patrolling the river.
