Council backs South Loop School plan

Members of the South Loop School Local School Council voted 9-0 Tuesday night to support moving South Loop's 6th through 8th grades to empty classrooms in the National Teachers Academy building starting in the 2010-2011 school year. The vote also reccommends creation of a new high school in NTA and a full complement of staff.

New Jones now expected by 2013-2014 school year

A new building for Jones College Prep is projecting to be open by Sept. 2013. CPS officials had predicted the 1,200-student facility would be ready for the 2012-2013 school year. The Public Building Commission is seeking an architect for the project.
