Well, I'll be. No professional jealousy in this neighborhood, that's for sure. My friend Anita just sent me an email telling me that she saw a great review on Panozzo's Facebook page. Of Acadia.
This is what Panozzo's Italian Market at 13th and Michigan has to say about the newly opened Acadia at 16th and Wabash:
A Big PZ's South Loop Welcome to Acadia - the new fine dining restaurant at 16th and Wabash. D and Missus tromped a couple of blocks intending a couple of appetizers and a glass of wine but the great selection bade us into blockbuster mode. The housemade charcuterie with wild boar terrine, chicken liver pate and (especially) the duck ham (prepared sous vide and then smoked over applewood and maple) was stellar...the kumquat preserves served with the latter was especially nice.
For entrees we had a Spain-evoking Shrimp dish with Marcona almonds and an amazing deconstructed Lobster Pie with root veggies - butter poached lobster, beautiful sauce, teeny fried mashed potato croquettes - Everything was great.
Dessert was phenomenal - roasted pineapple with olive oil cake, mascarpone ice cream, fennel, olive oil jam and a couple other components (I should have copped a menu) - a textural and full-flavored marvel.
Nice to meet the crew. Good luck guys. We'll be back. I command all F.O.P s to support this great new neighborhood joint. Link is above. Their grand opening is NYE.

After which, Panozzos posted a blog post of Acadia's--with lots of pictures and this message from Acadia itself:
acadia is now open! wednesday thru sunday. please visit acadiachicago.com to make reservations. come for dinner, or just hang at the bar for a cocktail. we’ll have a bar menu with nothing over $14 coming soon! hope to see everyone that has followed the progress and building of acadia over the last 6 months!
