The West Loop’s Union Park is getting a new playground this fall.

It’ll be on par with many of the park district’s other new parks, according to district spokeswoman Zvezdana Kubat, and will have a water spraying feature. It’ll also be accessible to the disabled. It’s currently under construction.

The project is paid for with $700,000 in cash, mostly from TIF. None of it is being paid for with park district money.

Kubat said the playground should open this fall.
