Floyd's 99 opens in West Loop
New barbershop on West Randolph

The newest West Loop business on West Randolph is—shockingly!—not a restaurant. It’s a barbershop. It’s called Floyd’s 99, located at 935 W. Randolph, and it opened earlier this week.
The theme may be modern, but the hair styles are decidedly old-school. The “Floyd’s Cut” uses hot lather and a straight razor for men; women get a finger dry. Both are certainly affordable, at $24. Through Labor Day, you can take advantage of Floyd’s grand opening special prices: 50% off. That means a haircut, for men or women, will run you $12.
But back to Floyd’s: the staff at the West Loop location—the 60th in the company’s national chain—is friendly and charming. Even if only one of them—Christina Orozco—was aware of the fictional Floyd the barber.
The building that houses Floyd’s 99 was a former butcher shop. Stylist Sarah Esquire was quick to point out that “if you get your hair cut here, we won’t butcher you.”
