Not much to say about the Late Ride that I haven't said here and here, for instance. But I felt I had to record the fact that it came by my house at Roosevelt and State once again tonight (morning is more accurate, I guess). And it was really cool, as usual. It always sends a chill up my spine, a feeling of awe that it's happening on my doorstep; and a deep sense of well-being that it's warm out and it's summer and the whir of the wheels is taking over the deep dark night.
Thousands of riders ride all night around the streets of Chicago, traveling through various neighborhoods--including the South Loop--culminating with a sunrise at Buckingham Fountain and a pancake breakfast. Need I say more?
And it's all for a good cause, too: Friends of the Parks.
