In this day and age if you don't seize the moment to share good news about yourself and your colleagues, the news cycle flashes by--and before you can bask in any glory whatsoever, it's old news.

So, I'll take this opportunity to thank the Illinois Woman's Press Association for honoring me this afternoon with three most-appreciated awards for my Chicago Journal columns in the 70th Annual Mate E. Palmer Communications Contest. The luncheon and ceremony took place at the Union League Club of Chicago.

--In the General Column category, I won First Place for two columns:

"Noting the Legal Notices"

and

"How Things Have Changed in the South Loop"

--In the Personal Opinion category, I won First Place for two columns:

"Just Like a Handywoman"

and

"Storms Hurt Our Good Trees"

--And in the Humorous Column category, I won Third Place for two columns:

"South Loop Wild-erness"

and

"An Eye for the Ages"

Thanks also to the Chicago Journal--publisher, editors and staff--for providing a wonderful home for award-winning columns for the past 10 years.

Bonnie scores a trifecta! Three winners in a row! Which horse do you like in the Belmont?
