The Poster in the alley (photo by Bonnie McGrath)

A giant poster--Obey Giant--recently installed in parts, is up in an alley on 11th Street, just east of State. It adorns the side of the building housing the tattoo store, Code of Conduct.

It was done by artist Shepard Fairey, who did the famous Obama image that everyone knows, has, wears--stemming from his campaign and election. Fairey has an interesting Wikipedia entry.

In any case, it was installed in pieces on the brick wall of the building--and you can see the video of that process here.

oh, he's so offensively politically/culturally motivated that I want to puke. How dreamy: Muslim woman all done up in veils...as if there's sand from which to seek protection, but oh yes, she wears eye makeup. What synthesis! What modernism! per Alfred E. Neuman: blech!
