You know that beige architectural gem of a building at 1411 S. Michigan that once housed a local letter carriers union? It's been for sale for ages, advertised by @properties as a great site for 145 dwelling units on a .65 acre of land? It's between the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant and the Trevi Square condo complex (that used to be the old St. Luke's Hospital).

Well, I say forget the 145 dwellings and someone, somewhere, do the right thing: restore it and make it into a single family home. Talk about a dwelling! It would be the cat's meow in the neighborhood. Plenty of square footage--28,314 to be exact. Plenty of glass block. It would be a showplace, both inside and out. Glamorous, secure and very, very cool.

Great idea Bon! Let's do it together. A bunch of us can chip in and make it a communal South Loop palace.

You want to pay the electricity bill for that? :)
