Samosas for everyone

There sure were a lot of samosas on South Wabash Monday morning. I had gotten an email from the alderman's office that he would be hosting a celebration at 11th and Wabash in honor of the end of the Wabash Avenue reconstruction and the new streetscape. An old fashioned kind of street party with music and people and food. So I went over to check it out. But the merrymakers had moved on, I'm afraid. It was chilly and it was Monday.


Lingering, however, were many Columbia College students and a few other passersby--who had just finished polishing off the hot dogs being offered by Eleven City Diner. All the diner was left to offer was coffee and green river. And before you could blink an eye, that was gone, too.

But suddenly the staff started coming out of India Grill with a ton of samosas. In little white styrofoam boxes, complete with a red and fragrant sauce on the side. And there was no stopping them. They seemed to be marching like soldiers to deliver more and more samosas. The more that were taken, the more they brought. The more people ate, the more they offered them more. And discount coupons so you could come back and have a meal, too. But the armsful of Samosas didn't cease. They were filled with potatoes and fried. Delicious. I wonder if they are still there.
